BLS Code Save – Patient Meet and Greet

At the oldest fire station in the City of Lowell, Gorham Street – now celebrating 150 years, our crew, EMTs Tyler and Brady, recently experienced a moment that perfectly captures the impact of what we do every day.

Last month, our team responded with Engine 1 to Fay Street for a cardiac arrest already in progress. From the outset, this was a high-acuity, time-critical call that demanded precision, urgency, and teamwork.

Engine 1 navigated a difficult space to safely remove the patient and initiate care. Our EMS team immediately transitioned into basic life support, working seamlessly alongside Lowell General Hospital paramedics. Together, the crews delivered high-quality CPR, advanced airway management, medications, and nine defibrillations.

Because of that coordinated effort, the outcome changed.

The patient was transported, stabilized, and received a pacemaker. Just five days later, he was discharged home. Recently, he returned to personally thank the crews who were there for him on that critical day.

Moments like this reinforce the importance of training, preparation, and trust in one another. This is what it looks like when everything comes together exactly as it should.

We are incredibly proud of everyone involved.

Thank you Tyler and Brady for the work you do every day.
