Joe Breen – Our “Local Champion”

Recently Joe Breen, EMT/Dispatcher, was recognized at the Lowell Sun Charities 79th annual Golden Gloves boxing tournament being held at the Lowell Memorial Auditorium. Joe, surrounded by friends, family and fellow First Responders, was recognized along with members from the Lowell Police and Lowell Fire as a Local Community Champions.

Joe Breen is a lifelong Lowell resident and proud UMass Lowell graduate who has served his community with distinction for over a decade. He began his career with PrideStar Trinity EMS in 2010, spending five years on the streets of Lowell as a BLS 911 EMT, providing compassionate, front-line emergency care to residents in their moments of greatest need.

Joe later transitioned to the 911 Communications Center, where he became a dispatch trainer and a respected leader, helping shape the next generation of emergency communicators. His dedication extended beyond the console when he volunteered to serve as PrideStar Trinity’s point person in support of the City of Lowell’s response to the opioid crisis. Joe created and maintains a database of more than 17,000 opioid-related calls, now used by local agencies to secure grant funding and by colleges and a medical school for research.

In recognition of his professionalism and impact, Joe was named Northeast EMS Dispatcher of the Year in 2018.

Joe’s commitment to service exemplifies what it truly means to be a Community Champion.
