Haverhill Man Grateful to Pridestar Trinity EMS Crew Who Saved His Life
A routine Sunday afternoon turned life-changing for Haverhill Housing Authority Deputy Executive Director Dan Dellea, thanks to the quick and skilled actions of a few fellow Haverhill residents and our Pridestar Trinity EMS crew.
On August 30, Dan suffered a sudden, near-fatal heart attack while at the intersection of Winter and Main Streets in Haverhill. Fortunately, a passing motorist and a Haverhill Housing Authority employee noticed him in distress and quickly flagged down a nearby Pridestar Trinity ambulance that happened to be in the area.
Emergency Medical Technicians Alex Hatfield (of Methuen) and Danielle Chambers (of Haverhill), with the support of Haverhill Supervisor Sean McCormack – Paramedic (of Allenstown, NH), responded immediately. The team initiated lifesaving measures on scene and successfully achieved return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) which brought Dan’s heart back into rhythm before he was transported to Lawrence General Hospital and later flown to Lahey Hospital in Burlington via medical helicopter.
After nearly a month of recovery, Dan was discharged and is now doing well. Grateful for the second chance at life, he recently expressed his deep appreciation to the EMS crew that saved him.
Dan did not mince words, “That crew saved my life, and I wanted to thank them personally.”
Sean McCormack, who was the Supervisor on duty that day, credits his fellow employees for their outstanding work.
“Alex and Danielle did everything right,” McCormack said. “They acted fast, stayed calm, and brought him back before he even reached the hospital. That’s what teamwork in EMS is all about.”
Pridestar Trinity EMS President & CEO David Daly praised the crew’s efforts, saying,
“This is exactly why we do what we do. Our team’s professionalism and compassion made all the difference for this patient and his family. We’re incredibly proud of Alex, Danielle, and Sean. We also want to thank Haverhill Fire who was on scene and provided incredible support and patient care.”
Dan, his family, and everyone at the Haverhill Housing Authority have expressed their heartfelt thanks to the Pridestar Trinity team for their life-saving actions and continued service to the community.
