Teamwork Saves a Life at the YMCA Haverhill
On August 12, 2025 at the Haverhill YMCA, Haverhill Fire Department, Pridestar Trinity EMS, and Leah (a YMCA lifeguard) were honored with citations for their heroic efforts in saving the life of 87-year-old Bruce, a former Haverhill High School teacher. Bruce was rescued from the YMCA pool, where Leah immediately began CPR until first responders arrived. Leah, a current Haverhill High student, demonstrated incredible courage and quick thinking in the moment.
A powerful reunion at the Haverhill YMCA. Everyone was grateful to see him healthy and smiling. We’re proud of Alison and Ty, and all the crews who played a role in this life-saving effort. This moment highlighted the true meaning of community, collaboration, and compassion in action.
